CPC hardware revisions

 

CPC hardware revisions

 

During the lifetime of the Amstrad CPC there were different hardware revisions. These were made to reduce the cost of manufacturing the machine. All the revisions were based on the same design.

NOTES:

  • This PCB is big and the ICs are not close together.
  • This PCB has a space to fit a 40007 and 40010 Gate-Array.
  • The keyboard is heavy, has keys that are tall and has wires instead of a ribbon cable to connect it to the main PCB

  • This PCB has a empty space marked for a 40010 Gate-Array
  • The PCB is half the size of the other CPC464 PCBs, and uses approx half the space inside the computer keyboard.
  • The keyboard has flat keys, and is connected to PCB using a ribbon cable.
