OVERSCAN UTILITY SYSTEM V2.0 CODE & DESIGN : EPSILON (C) CPC INFOS 1993 This utility is very simple to use; the commands are quite simple: you only need to press 0, 1, 2, 3, SPACE, TAB - easy? At the menu, you can choose from either a horizontal or vertical overscan: - OVERSCAN HORIZONTAL This contains a sprite placed on the left, and a sprite placed on the right of the screen. These 2 sprites occupy the entire width of the screen. - OVERSCAN VERTICAL This contains a sprite placed on the top, and a sprite placed on the bottom of the screen. These 2 sprites occupy the entire height of the screen. To display a screen in the new format, you must use some OUT commands. The main menu allows you to choose from either horizontal or vertical overscan. You must press either 1, 2 or 3. Option 3 executes a CALL 0 (resets the CPC). Once you have chosen which type of overscan you want, you will arrive at a sub-menu. Option 1 saves 2 screens. A rectangle is drawn on each screen. With an art package, fill the 2 rectangles in the correct order of positions (left, right for a horizontal overscan, and top, bottom for a vertical overscan). Take care with linking up your pictures... When you have finished drawing your rectangles, follow these instructions: - Save each screen under your original name (indicated between the brackets above). This is very very important! eg. "OVER1-G.SCR" - 1 = MODE 1, G = gauche = horizontal overscan in MODE 1. - Run Overscan Utility System, choose the type of overscan (the same as you chose before saving the screens). - Choose option 2 from the sub-menu and insert the disc which contains the 2 screens. If you make a mistake, insert the wrong disc, or there is an error, your CPC will reset completely!! - Attention! If all is working well, you must press SPACE, then your screen will appear as it should look... Another press of SPACE will automatically save the screen to the disc. The final screen carries the letter O if it is a horizontal overscan, and V if it is a vertical overscan. eg. "OVER0-V.SCR" - 0 = MODE 0, V = vertical = a vertical overscan screen. OK, for the OUT commands, you must note them, for it is difficult to remember them in your head, and it's useful. - OVERSCAN HORIZONTAL 1 and 2: 49 6: 20 7: 28 eg. Even if using this seems difficult, there is a very simple way. Just familiarise yourself with the names of the saved screens and the utility commands. For the names of the screens, the G stands for gauche, the D droite, the H haut and the B bas. The number after OVER is the MODE number. The final name of the screen is determined by the MODE and the type of overscan (O or V). OCP ART STUDIO) de créer soit un écran reformaté en overscan horizontal, soit un écran reformaté en overscan vertical. Cet utilitaire est très souple d’emploi, les commandes sont assez simples : Il suffit d’appuyer sur 0, 1, 2, 3, ESPACE, TAB... Facile, non ? Avant d’aborder les différentes options, voici le fonctionnement et le principe d’un ecran reformaté en overscan : - OVERSCAN HORIZONTAL Il est constitué d’un sprite placé à gauche, et un sprite placé à droite. Ces 2 sprites occupent donc toute la largeur de l’écran. - OVERSCAN VERTICAL Il est constitué d’un sprite placé en haut et d’un sprite placé en bas. Ces 2 sprites occupent donc toute la hauteur de l’écran. Pour afficher un écran dans le nouveau format, il faudra user de quelques OUT (voir plus loin). Le MENU principal permet de choisir le type d’OVERSCAN (HORIZONTAL ou VERTICAL). Il faut presser 1, 2 ou 3. L’option 3 fait un CALL 0 (reset du CPC). Quelle que soit l’option choisie (1 ou 2), vous arriverez à un sous-menu. L’option 1 sauvegarde 2 écrans. Un rectangle se trouve dans chaque écran. A l’aide d’un utilitaire de dessin, remplissez les 2 rectangles en respectant l’ordre des positions (gauche, droite pour un overscan horizontal et haut, bas pour un overscan vertical). Faites bien attention aux raccords dans vos graphes... Quand vous aurez fini de barbouiller vos rectangles, suivez à la lettre ces instructions : - Sauvegardez chaque écran sous son nom d’origine (Indiqué entre parenthèses tout en haut). Ceci est très très important ! Ex : “OVER1-G.SCR” -> 1= mode 1 - G = Gauche = overscan horizontal en mode 1. - Lancez Overscan Utility System, choisissez le type d’overscan (le même que celui choisit précédemment pour les écrans). - Choisissez l’option 2 du sous-menu et insérez la disquette dans laquelle se trouve les 2 écrans. Si vous vous êtes trompé de nom, de disquette, ou qu’il y a une erreur de chargement, vous aurez le droit à un BIG RESET de votre CPC ! Alors attention ! Si tout se passe bien, on vous demandera de pressez ESPACE, ceci fait, votre écran apparaitra sous son aspect final... Une autre pression de la barre ESPACE lancera automatiquement la sauvegarde de l’écran sur la disquette. L’ecran final porte soit la lettre O si c’est un overscan horizontal, soit un V si c’est un overscan vertical... Ex : “OVER0-V.SCR” -> 0= mode 0 - V=Vertical = c’est un overscan vertical. Meme si l’utilisation vous paraît difficile à travers cette notice, vous verrez qu’en pratique, c’est très simple. Il faut juste se familiariser avec les noms de sauvegardes et les commandes de l’utilitaire. Pour les noms des écrans, le G veut dire Gauche, le D Droite, Le H Haut et le B Bas Le chiffre après OVER est tout simplement le numéro du MODE. Le nom de l’écran final est determiné par le MODE et le type de l’overscan (O ou V).
